Monitoring - Canva Student Access Update
Student access to Canva was restored yesterday evening for Allen ISD students.
Canva continues to work on the permissions issue previously identified within the platform that allows students to share products in bulk with district staff only. Although students are not able to share Canva products in bulk with other students, they are still able to share Canva products broadly with district staff. Students are also able to share Canva products individually with other students and collaborate with one another on shared Canva projects as designed.
After review and discussion among several district departments, including Learner Services, Information Technology, and School Leadership, a concerted decision was made to restore student access to Canva in the interest of supporting its continued instructional use while Canva works to fully resolve the remaining permissions issue that allows students to share products with the entire district staff base.
Because the ability to share broadly with staff remains available, it is more important than ever that student use of Canva be monitored closely and that any inappropriate use, content, or sharing activity be addressed promptly.
All students are expected to follow the expectations and requirements outlined in the Allen ISD Student Handbook and Student Code of Conduct. Students remain responsible for their conduct and are subject to the applicable rules, expectations, and disciplinary consequences outlined in those documents. Any violation of the Student Code of Conduct will be addressed in accordance with district procedures and applicable policy, regardless of the circumstances or setting in which the conduct occurs.
We will continue working with Canva and will provide additional updates as the remaining permissions issues are addressed by the provider.
Thank you for your patience as we navigate the situation with Canva.
Respectfully,

Update - Hello,
The Canva icon has now been re-published on the Allen ISD portal for teachers only. Teacher access to Canva has remained available throughout the day; however, the IT Department needed to reconfigure the portal tile so that it is visible and accessible only to teachers at this time.
Teachers may need to log out of the Allen ISD portal and log back in for the Canva icon to appear again.
Student access to Canva remains temporarily disabled. Students are not able to access the Allen ISD Canva environment at this time, either through the Allen ISD portal or directly through the web.
We will provide further updates as more information becomes available.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Respectfully,
Allen ISD Information Technology Department

Investigating - Hello Allen ISD Staff,
The IT Department and Canva (not Canvas) are aware of an issue affecting permissions and sharing within Canva. Canva has identified a permissions-related bug and is actively working to resolve it.
While Canva works on a fix, student access to Canva has been temporarily disabled across Allen ISD as a precautionary measure. This step is intended to help prevent misuse that has been observed in a limited number of instances over the past several days.
We will provide an update once Canva confirms the issue has been resolved and student access can be safely restored.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Respectfully,
